OSWR is a tabletop roleplaying game that takes the familiar framework of 5th edition D&D and strips it back to something dangerous. Characters are fragile. Combat is deadly. Choices matter because the wrong one might kill you.
It started as a game written by Scott — my friend, collaborator, and six-year gaming partner. He wasn't even going to release it. He pulled it and asked me if I wanted it. I rewrote the whole thing. I'd been playing games for three years. I had no right to write it. That's the point.

What Makes It Different
Deadly by Default
No barbarian stands in a fireball. Hit points are low, healing is scarce, and danger is real. You survive by being clever, not by having enough numbers.
5e Familiar
If you know 5e, you can play OSWR in ten minutes. Same core dice, same basic structure. But the balance is different — this is fantasy, not superheroes.
